Or I can mount the image into (in my case) 4 new drives (partitions).

The image can be read only or you can edit your image and resave it.

Accessing files on Acronis Image (tib) files

 

Here is what my computer Hard Discs look like. The Wiorking Hard Drive has four partitions on it. A second rack mounted switchable drive drive stores Acronis images on it.

 

If I use "My Computor" oe IE I can first find an image on the second disc, right click on it, and through a series of screens have instant access to any file on the image.
